Pillow Books

A Pillow Book is anchored in human desire. Creating a stunning and enduring testament in images that explore, express and document that desire, is the experience I offer. This intimate exploration of fantasy, gender expression and identity is not a typical boudoir photo shoot, because human identity and desire are neither typical nor simple. My goal with every Pillow Book is to collaborate and design a unique and immersive container to photograph, one that’s inspired and designed by direct input from my clients. It could be as simple as elegant nudes or as complex as a reimagined erotic fairy tale. I love using costume, symbology and sets to craft narratives in which people can really embody and explore all the dimensions that compose personal identity. My twenty-plus years working in the field of photography, rooted in fine art and editorial photography, have also shaped me as an art director, and intimacy guide.

I'm so endlessly honoured to direct the creative experiences that express and explore intimacies of the heart with my clients. I’m committed to providing a safe and fun space where people can play, explore kinks, gender expression and document intimacy. I want my clients to exit the process feeling empowered, delighted and turned on to the world and themselves.

My narrative process mirrors the approach you would take with filmmaking. This is achieved by extensive pre-creative collaboration and design with the client, building out and execution of the actual shoot and finally the curated scene creation that will become the Pillow Book. My focused and creative approach with guidance and clear direction truly allow for joyful immersion in the experience.

I have brought to life a poem about a one-night stand with two lovers’, recreated erotic paintings from the eighteenth century, and plucked selections from literature, film and music to build a unique narrative of self with my clients. It is the non-linear approach to narrative that I find best suited for examining and exploring the complexity of human desire and the stories it inspires.

 I'm thrilled for the opportunity to document the process and create a fine art heirloom book of it for you. The nature of my work is very intimate and private, with most collections existing only in the hands of clients. I have two examples below to illustrate examples of my offerings. The Morning After represents a standard Duchess book. It’s hardbound but smaller in size and printed on fine art archival matte photo rag paper, with a full glossy photo jacket.
